What a great session! Sayma was very knowledgeable and helpful with tips and suggestions on how to get the results from our paintings using different techniques and brushes. The setting was also lovely for a morning of painting and I left with quite a few painted pages where we had practised techniques and brush styles and strokes, as well as a little painting that actually looked like something. I?d 100% recommend this class!

ARTISTS
Sayma Shahid
Sayma is a versatile artist with expertise in fine art, photography, fashion art, and graphic art. She holds a degree in Art and Design from Birmingham City University and has subsequently shared her knowledge by teaching art and design in schools.

Primarily focusing on painting various 'scapes,' including skyscapes, landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, and birds-eye views, Sayma combines a love for texture with an appreciation for simplicity in her work. Personal and reflective of her emotions, her artwork often takes on titles that mirror her feelings.

Sayma finds joy in utilizing textured wood surfaces and unconventional objects to create unique markings. An example is her use of an old debit card to craft a distant cityscape, yielding remarkable results.

While she initially concentrated on illustration and detailed work, Sayma has transitioned to more contemporary and abstract pieces. She finds this shift to be more enjoyable and effective in capturing attention.

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Sayma shares a valuable tip: never fear making 'mistakes' in your work, as paintings, like people, evolve over time, with their persona changing as time passes.

Sayma Shahid is available for private bookings

Mural and Large public work: I tend to seek to clients who want me to work directly on their walls within public buildings, creating enthralling images of the sky in its different personas and moods.

I do offer illustration services, as well as tuition.

Title or Location: This is where I found you...
A violent but vivid abstract image of a lonely dock. Personal experiences of loneliness and draining life experiences lead me to darkness, only to find myself again. I was an artist since childhood, but grew up as the only creative in my family following a path to utter loneliness and draconism of corporate survival. Exhaustion and isolation brought me back to art and thus I found my creator-self.

The carnation is one of two flowers for January... The inspiration for my painting of a red and pink carnation came from the emotions these flowers represent. The bold red symbolizes love and admiration, while the soft pink brings to mind gratitude and warmth. I loved how these two colors complement each other, creating a mix of strong and gentle feelings. As I painted, I focused on the delicate layers of the petals and how the colors blended, trying to capture both the beauty and the emotion th

A memory of winter 1963. As a child the snowfall that year was magical. The pond nearby was frozen and the trees laden with clumps of snow. The challenge in painting this in watercolours was to leave white and create the snow with the shadows.
